KVK, Booh (Taran Tarn), which operates under the office of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana started a Scientific Farming School of Pear Farming at Mr. Gurwinder Singh Sandhu’s farm, who is a Chief Minister Awardee in Horticulture, at village Jindawal, Taran Tarn. School was inaugurated by Deputy Director of KVK Dr. Balwinder Kumar. He introduced and appreciated Mr. Sandhu’s efforts in the field of horticulture with the fellow farmers present at the occasion. “Adapting Horticulture in farming is one of the only way to achieve the aim of doubling farmers income by 2020”, he added. Dr. Nirmal Singh, Horticulture Expert emphasized that horticulture is a growing industry in Indian Economy. He also shared his experiences about cultivation and packaging of Pear. Along with it he shared the future plans and upcoming trainings at the Farming School in coming days. Crop expert Dr. Navjot Singh Brar also trained farmers about weed control and fertilizer management in the orchards. In the end Mr. Gurwinder Singh Sandhu thanked the experts and farmers to be part of the valuable session and their presence.
