Post rain, farmers chip in to repair link road

March 10 2020

Intermittent rain from the past couple of days has failed to deter farmers from plugging a 150-feet breach on the Kharar- Bassi Pathana road between Malakpur and Bassian village. On Sunday, the farmers plugged the breach partially.

Two months ago, the road on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal got washed away due to water released by the Kharar Municipal Council. As a result, link between various villages of Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib districts broke.

Shamsher Singh Ghauran, senior vice-president, Bhartiya Kisan Union; Davinder Singh Dehkalan; Jaspal Singh Niamian; Gurmeet Singh Khunimajra; Gurinder Singh Mahamudpur; Kulwant Singh; Sanjeev Kumar Rubi; Harmeel Singh Kheri; and Jarnail Singh; among others, participated in kar sewa.

Dehkalan said the breach has been partially plugged.

Harbans Lal, sarpanch, Malakpur village, said the exercise will continue for another days and the villagers have made an arrangement of langar as well. — OC
