Govt fixes wheat MSP at Rs 1,925

The UT has fixed the Maximum Support Price (MSP) of wheat at Rs 1,925 while 24 temporary procurement centres have been established for the rabi harvest in Jammu region.

As per the Director of Agriculture, Jammu, harvesting has been completed in 1,20,000 hectare, out of total target of 2,21,000 hectare, which mainly falls in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts and parts of Rajouri.

“More than 50 per cent harvesting of wheat has been completed. The lockdown coincided with the harvesting season but timely measures taken by the government have helped farmers complete the work,” an agriculture official said.

The department has also established a 24x7 Agri Facilitation Centre at Lakhanpur. As many as 22 Agriculture Business Centres (ABCs) and Farm Machinery Banks have also been operational.
