General Information
The species is Apis florea. It is also known as dwarf honey bee. It is native to India and is distributed only to plain regions and hills below 450 MSL. It is the smallest bee among all Apis species. They built single vertical combs. They built their hives in caves, empty cases, hedges, bushes, buildings etc. They frequently change their place from one to another therefore they are not domestic bees. It gives an average yield of 200-900gm/colony/year of honey.
