General Information
The species is Apis cerana indica. It is also known as Asiatic honey bee to Eastern honey bee. Indian bees are native to India or Asia. This species is used for the commercial production of honey and other substances. The bees are important pollinating agents for coconut palms. The bees are prone to absconding and swarming. They can survive in mountain or temperate areas having long winters or cold temperatures. Indian bees are domesticated species which built multiple parallel combs. It gives an average yield of 8-10kg/colony/year of honey.
