There has been an increase in the production and trade of mushrooms in the country during the Kovid period. Last year, two lakh tonnes of mushrooms were produced in the country, which has increased to two lakh 42 thousand tonnes this time. This year Odisha has come at number one position in mushroom production. Maharashtra is second, Bihar third. Himachal Pradesh has been ranked fifth.
This time around 2.5 thousand crore business has been done from mushroom. There was a fall in the prices of mushrooms amid Kovid, but later the prices of mushrooms were doubled. The farmers of Himachal have to buy wheat, sugarcane straw from outside states at expensive prices to prepare mushrooms, whereas in the outside states, farmers are getting this raw material easily and cheaply.
At the same time, the national level mushroom fair to be held on September 10 will be organized online this time due to Kovid. During this time the exhibitions will be shown online. Earlier this fair was organized in the premises of DMR Solan. Farmers from all over the country used to come here.
