Bihar Government to Provide Subsidy for Roof-top Gardening

Bihar government has come up with a scheme that provides subsidy to encourage people doing rooftop gardening, which will be up to 25 percent. Applications are being sought to take advantage of this scheme.

With rising awareness about health among the people, there has been a craze for organic vegetables especially in urban areas.

Therefore, to make the urban area self-sufficient in the field of vegetables, many types of technology are being promoted in the country so that people can produce vegetables in less space. Terrace Gardening is one of these methodologies.

After registering the applicant will have to deposit their share of Rs 25000. Only the amount of the beneficiary share is deposited, further action like issuance of work order will be conducted.

Who can apply for Roof-top Gardening Subsidy

  • Anyone living in the city, who has 300 sq ft areaon roof or any vacant site which is free from any interference is eligible to apply for this subsidy. In case of apartment no objection certificate should be obtained from the registered society.
  • An applicant will be given two units if he has a house and five units for educational institutions and apartments.
  • Applications have been sought from people of 13 blocks of four districts of Bihar to take benefits under the rooftop gardening scheme.
  • People living in these blocks can apply to take advantage of the scheme. For this, farmers of Patna Sadar, Danapur, Phulwari, Sampatchak of Patna district can apply. Residents of Urban, Bodh Gaya and Manpur of Gaya district, Muzaffarpur Musahari Kanti of Muzaffarpur district, and Jagdispur, Jagdishpur, Nath and Sabor of Bhagalpur district can also apply.
