Apple orchards in the grip of unknown disease, gardeners worried

Apple orchards in the high altitude regions of Himachal Pradesh have been hit by an unknown disease. The Himalayan Apple Grower Society has sent samples of the disease to Horticulture University Nauni for testing. Black spots are visible on the apples in the orchards. Gardeners are fearing the disease may be caused by bacteria. Vineet Kumar Sarjolta, president of the society, said that these days, black colored protruding grains are visible on apples in the orchards of other high altitude areas including Nandpur in Rohru, Ruildhar in Jubbal, Chhajpur, Kathasu and Chandrapur.

Gardens have never seen symptoms of this type of disease before, so gardeners are worried. To eliminate the confusion regarding the disease, the society has sent samples of the disease to Horticulture University Nauni for examination. Gardeners are urged to treat the disease only on the basis of advice given by the experts of the university. Avoid using for disease prevention at your level.

Faced due to fluctuations in temperature problem

head of the Department of Plant Pathology of Horticulture University Nauni Dr. HR Gautam said that due to fluctuations in the weather seems to be emerging Lenti cells on the outer skin of the apple has. This problem will go away on its own after the natural color of the apple within 15 to 20 days. Gardeners should follow the spray schedule issued by the Department of Horticulture and avoid spraying with fungicides mixed with any micronutrients.
