Himachal government raises prices of mustard oil and these pulses

November 05 2020

The Himachal government has given another setback to around 11 lakh APL card holder families before Diwali in early November. Mustard oil found in depots will be costlier by Rs 6 per liter from Wednesday. Not only this, the prices of mash, mala masoor and gram dal have also been increased by five rupees per kg. During the Corona period and festive season, consumers have been hit by inflation. A new list of ration prices has been released to the ration depot operators by the Food Supplies Department on Tuesday itself.

Mustard oil, which is available in cheap ration depots for Rs 97 per liter in October, will be available for Rs 103 from November. Mala-lentil pulses have been raised from Rs 55 to 60 per kg, lentils gram from Rs 45 to 50, while prices of mash lentils have been increased from Rs 55 to 60 per kg. However, BPL families will get ration at the old price only. Let the state government first exclude tax-paying consumers from cheap rations and now by increasing the prices of rations, it has given a big shock to the lower middle class families. On the other hand, Food Supply Minister Rajendra Garg said that the prices of mustard oil and pulses in the depots have increased according to the market rate.
