Farmers are not getting seeds and laborers

May 31 2021

Many sections are currently suffering losses due to the lockdown in view of the large number of people being infected in the second wave of Corona, but farmers will also have to suffer losses after a few months. In fact, due to the closure of the market, they could not get high seed seed for preparing cabbage and paddy plants. Apart from this, they are also facing shortage of laborers for transplanting seedlings for early crop of cabbage. Therefore, there is a possibility of an impact on their income this year.

The farmers of the village, such as Dichaun Kalan, Jhauda Kalan, Nilwal, Deer Jumping and Ranhola etc. cultivate cabbage on a large scale. Apart from this, some farmers in Alipur area also cultivate cabbage. Most farmers in these villages take one crop and they plant cabbage at certain times, but some take two crops of cabbage.

They take early and late crops, but farmers are facing problems due to the lockdown due to Corona epidemic. At the same time, in villages like Bawana, Dariyapur Kalan, Auchandi, Harewali, Mungeshpur and Ghogha etc., paddy is cultivated on a large scale. Apart from this, some farmers also cultivate paddy in other villages. Many types of problems have also come before these farmers.

Can t find any medicine to protect you from heat and pests

Pradeep Shookin, farmer of Dichanu Kalan, says that the shops of manure and seed are also closed due to the closure of the market due to lockdown. Most of the farmers in the area buy seeds from the market near Inderlok, but due to the closure of the market, the farmers could not get high quality seeds of the cabbage crop. Therefore, farmers have started preparing seedlings by purchasing low level seeds from some farmers of the area. These plants are also not getting medicines to protect them from heat and pests. He explains that if there is no good seed and medicine for the plant, there will not be a good and much crop. This will directly affect the income of the farmers.

Workers famine for transplanting of paddy seedlings

According to Malhuram of Dariyapur Kalan village, due to corona and lockdown, this time neither the plants have been ready for the paddy crop nor the laborers are available for planting. Farmers are not getting good quality seeds for planting. At the same time, the workers have gone to their state. For this reason, this time the paddy crop will be reduced. In fact, most of the farmers have not been able to prepare the plants and they are not even likely to get them from other farmers by purchasing them.

People will get cabbage at an expensive price The yield is sure to be affected if the farmers do not get good quality seeds for the cabbage and paddy crop. Due to this, the yield per acre is likely to be reduced by 25 to 30 percent. It will also harm the common people along with the farmers, because the income of the farmers will be reduced due to reduced yields, while the people will get cabbage at an expensive price. However, farmers are not expected to benefit from this inflation- Dr. Jayaprakash, Agricultural Specialist, Pusa
