TRAINING COURSE ON HEALTH AND HYGIENE BEGINS AT PAU

LUDHIANA, JULY 17:

A five-day training course on “Health and Hygiene Practices at Household Level” kicked off at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today under the guidance of Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education. Farm women and rural youth from various parts of Punjab are participating in the course.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Course Coordinator, welcomed the trainees and the resource persons.

On the first day, the PAU home scientists informed about communicable diseases among children- their preventive and remedial measures; and care and management of children during rainy season (viral fever, diarrhea, flu and skin allergy). Besides, the experts will create awareness about food and water borne illness, food hygiene and sanitation, food safety and National Food Safety Act, personal hygiene and household cleaning, care and storage of clothes in rainy season, and use and care of materials, tools and equipment for household cleaning. The home scientists will also demonstrate safe cooking during rainy season, and preparation of healthy and balanced food. In addition, the experts will dwell on right precooking processes and appropriate cooking methods; and insect-pest management of stored grains.

The course is being technically coordinated by home science experts namely Dr Kiran Grover, Dr Narinderjit Kaur, Dr Vandana Gandotra and Dr Asha Chawla.
