King Rot apple sold for Rs 190, Dark Baron Gala at Rs 210 per kg

On Monday, the first day of the week, King Rot variety apple was sold for Rs 190 per kg at Parala Mandi of Theog in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh and Dark Baron Gala at Rs 210 per kg at Rohru Fruit Mandi. In Parala Mandi, 47 boxes of 10 kg got a price of Rs 1900 per box. For the first time this season, Spur variety of apple got Rs 2100 per box in Rohru Fruit Market.

In the Harish Fruit Company (No. 36) of Parala Mandi, the gardener Sachin Sharma of Dharech Loharb of Theog had brought 47 half boxes of King Rot variety to sell. The bidding which started at 1200 ended at 1900. The buyer of Gujarat bought this apple by making the highest bid. Harish Thakur Bittu, president of Parala Mandi, operator of Harish Fruit Company, said that the apple has got good prices due to its excellent size and full color. If it was a full box instead of two layers, then the rate would have been up to Rs 4750.

On the other hand, in Ravindra Fruit Company (12 number) of Rohru fruit market, apple of Sanjeev Thakur, a farmer of Chewdi of Kansa category, was sold for Rs 2100 per box. A buyer from Dehradun bought a lot of 13 boxes. Buyers started bidding at 1500, which ended at 2100. Ravindra Thakur, operator of Ravindra Fruit Company, said that these goods have been sold in Rohru Mandi at a record rate of this season so far. 

Royal 1800 in Dhali Mandi, 3000 in Parala were sold on 

Monday in Shimla s fruit market, Royal variety apple was sold at the rate of Rs 3000 per box in Theog s Parala Mandi. Tiedman apples got prices ranging from Rs 400 to 1500 in Dhali and Parala Mandi. In Parala, Spur variety of apple was sold at the rate of Rs 1500 to 3800 per box. 

The influx of apples decreased in the mandis due to rain, the road connectivity 

After the rain in Upper Shimla for the past few days, the arrival of apples in the mandis has reduced. The apple season was expected to pick up pace this week as compared to last week. Apples are reaching the mandis only in small quantities. The condition of connectivity roads in apple growing areas has also deteriorated after the rains. The situation in Theog, Kotkhai, Jubbal, Rohru, Chaupal has worsened due to landslides on the main roads and potholes on the connecting roads. Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association President Harish Chauhan has urged the state government to take up the work of improving the condition of roads in apple growing areas on a war footing during the apple season.
