Chaubatia will become the state s first Horticulture Center of Excellence, sent a proposal of 13 crores

To promote horticulture crops in Uttarakhand, the state s first Center of Excellence will be set up at Chaubatia in Almora district. For this center, the government has sent a proposal of 13 crores to the center.

After getting the approval of the Centre, the work on it will start. Apart from developing new varieties of apples and walnuts in Chaubatia Center of Excellence, farmers will get training and all other facilities. The government has resolved to double the income of farmers by 2022. The focus of the government is on increasing the production of horticulture crops in the state and providing better facilities to the farmers.

The Directorate of Horticulture is located in Chaubatia, Ranikhet of Almora district. Decades ago, root stocks of new varieties of apples were prepared here and sent to other states of the country. Now the government has planned a center of excellence in horticulture in Chaubatia. In this, new species of apple, walnut along with other temperate fruits will be developed. 

Mother plants of new varieties of apples and walnuts imported from abroad will be prepared and made available to the farmers. The center will also have labs and other facilities for quality testing of plants. This will be the first Center of Excellence in the horticulture sector in the state.  

There is a plan to set up a Center of Excellence for Apple and Walnut in Chaubatia. For this a proposal of 13 crores has been sent to the Centre. It will be prepared as soon as the financial approval of the Center is received. With the formation of this center, new varieties of apples and walnuts will be prepared. Farmers will easily get good quality plants.

government plans to set up four crop-based centers of excellence in the state. Apart from Chaubatia, a center of excellence will be set up for spices in Tehri, floriculture in Nainital, and vegetables in Kashipur. The proposal of these three centers will also be sent to the center soon.
