Vet Varsity appoints new Deans of different colleges

Board of Management, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) gave approval to appoint Deans of different colleges. Board of Management has approved names of Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman as Dean, College of Veterinary Science GADVASU, Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli as Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Rampur Phul (Bathinda), Dr. Meera D Ansal as Dean, College of Fisheries and Dr. YPS Malik as Dean, College of Animal Biotechnology.

Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman will serve as Dean, College of Veterinary Science, GADVASU Campus. Recently, he has completed his 4-year tenure as Head of University Hospital Complex, GADVASU. He has 25 year experience in teaching, research and extension since his joining as Assistant Professor in Dept. of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and subsequently GADVASU. He earned Ph.D. degree in Animal Reproduction from University of Liverpool, UK under Commonwealth Scholarship. He has been associated with 21 research projects. His research work was recognized with nine best paper awards by the National Society on Animal Reproduction, Fellowship of the Society in 2018 and 27 young scientist awards during various conferences. He has 12 review papers, 56 international, 134 national scientific publications, 74 invited papers, 53 Books, Monographs, Manuals and 133 popular articles to his credit.

Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli, a Veterinary graduate of CCS, Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar will work as Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul. He did his Ph.D from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly. He has undergone advance training in Meat Proteomics at University of Kentucky, Lexington. He was head of the department of Department of Livestock Products Technology from last 8 years. He has established various laboratories and pilot processing units at GADVASU Ludhiana with a mobilization of funds accounting more than 7 crores and successfully handled 14 projects as Principal Investigator funded by various national agencies. He has transferred 19 technologies to entrepreneurs. He has established Poultry Processing Plant as Revenue generation Model under Public Private Partnership Mode. He has delivered more than 50 invited lectures and published 2 patents, 8 books, 20 book chapters, 46 manuals/compendiums/research reports and more than 158 research publications in the journal of national and international repute.

Dr. Meera D. Ansal, Head, Department of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries, GADVASU has been selected as Dean of College of Fisheries. After completing M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), she joined PAU as Assistant Professor (Fisheries) in 1999 and has made significant contribution in teaching, research, extension and institutional development. She has guided 10 M.F.Sc./Ph.D students and taught more than 20 UG/PG courses. Under ICAR’s prestigious Niche Area of Excellence Project, she has played an instrumental role in development of aquaculture in salt affected waste lands of south west districts of the State and conferred with Best Success Story award by the Indian Ecological Society. She is now working to develop Climate Smart Aquaculture Technologies. With 11 R&D projects and more than 200 publications Dr. Meera is decorated with ‘Honorary Fellowship of the Indian Ecological Society.
