PAU FORESTRY COURSES GET ‘A PLUS’ GRADE FROM ICFRE

The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun, has accredited forestry courses run by the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, PAU, with ‘A Plus’ grade. In earlier accreditation done in 2011, PAU was accredited with ‘A’ grade. This accreditation is for a period of five years with effect from June 22, 2017. The ICFRE is an autonomous body of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India, which grades various government institutions running the graduation and post-graduation degree programmes in forestry and allied subjects. Accreditation Board of ICFRE evaluated 21 institutions (Forestry Universities/Colleges/Departments) running forestry courses in the country and their evaluation report approved by the Director General, ICFRE. The expert team comprising Dr P Thapliyal, Ex-PCCF (HP) and Ms Komal Preet, ADG (Education), ICFRE, Dehradun, visited the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources of PAU and interacted with the faculty and postgraduate students. Team also visited various teaching/research facilities in the Department and the College of Agriculture (laboratories, lecture rooms, examination hall, library, etc.) including experimental areas at Ludhiana and Ladhowal. Team members interacted with Dr S.S. Kukal, Dean, College of Agriculture and Dr RIS Gill, Head, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, PAU. The presentation of salient research and teaching achievements was made before the Accreditation Board of ICFRE in March 2017.
