Mandarin, turmeric included in rail transport subsidy

With the objective of encouraging farmers to transport agricultural produce through Kisan Rail, Ministry of Railways and Food Processing Industries is running under the Indian Railways Greens-Top to Total scheme. Mandarin (a type of orange) and turmeric (kachchi) have been included in the list of 50 percent transportation subsidized fruits and vegetables through any type of train service. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries is providing 50 percent subsidy on transportation of fruits and vegetables through any type of train service being run under Operation Greens - Top to Total of Indian Railways.

It is noteworthy that Indian Railways is constantly making efforts to transport agricultural produce through freight trains. Even during the lockdown, the freight trains of the railways were being operated continuously to ensure a continuous supply of essential materials so that there would be no problems in any part of the country. Due to the availability of more rakes, there has been a lot of improvement in the lift of crops like wheat, pulses, fruits, vegetables.
