Concrete initiative of farmer prosperity

June 28 2021

The state government has taken a concrete initiative to make the farmers financially prosperous by making agriculture profitable. In this episode, along with paddy, other crops have been encouraged. If this effort is successful, the day is not far when crop diversification will take place in the state.

Then the farmers here will no longer be mere paddy producers. If the farmers also step in with the government, then on one hand their land will become fertile and there will be less use of fertilizers, on the other hand their income will also increase. This will make the farmers financially strong.

It is also the effort of the government to encourage the production of lac. For this, loans should be made available to lakh producing farmers at zero percent interest. Credit cards of such farmers should also be made. Taking a step forward, the government has now decided to take over the marketing of fragrant paddy on its own to make agriculture profitable.

It is also going to take cooperation from Agricultural Research Institute (IIMR) Hyderabad for technical support and availability of seeds in the production and value addition of Kodo-Kutki instead of paddy. A contract has also been signed with the said institute for this. Land has also been selected for central storage and processing of Kodo-Kutki and Ragi in Kanker.

The good thing is that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has given instructions to give mini rice mill grant to its producing farmers and groups to encourage organic farming of aromatic paddy. He has also been asked to enter into agreements with companies through collectors for marketing of fragrant paddy.

cultivation. The maize processing plant set up in Kondagaon has also been asked to be completed within the time limit. Efforts are being made to ensure that the students of the College of Agriculture, Horticulture and Fisheries conduct internship with the farmers in the villages to give a strong base to agriculture and farmers.

This effort of the government has made it clear that it is really farmer friendly. Despite this, the whole exercise of making the farmers financially prosperous will yield results only when the system is run according to the mantra. If the system is indifferent then the expected result cannot be expected.

Tantra has to not only give a concrete shape to the mantra of the government, but also to reach the farmers. If the farmers also understand the matter of the government s mind, then the crop of the scheme will come out of the files and the farmers will also be benefitted.
