June 21 2021

Every farmer is writing his own destiny in Atur village of Kanker, which is 155 km away from Chhattisgarh s capital Raipur. Farmers have doubled their income by doing integrated farming here. The story of development started from the year 2012. The scientists of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University first advised farmer Lalluram Kureti in the village for integrated farming.

Here the pond is dug and the tube well has been dug. Farmers have already sold fish worth Rs 25,000 in the first year. There is not much profit in paddy cultivation. Here, poultry, pig farming, duck rearing, cow and goat rearing have also started in the hut. He has now started earning two lakh 40 thousand rupees on four acres of land. After this Kadaknath did poultry farming, then the income reached up to four lakh rupees.

When the farmer used to sow only paddy, then he could earn only 70 to 80 thousand rupees from 72 quintals of paddy. The farmer has also received Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Krishi Protsahan Puraskar from the Government of India. Seeing this, a total of 12 other farmers of the village have also started doing integrated farming. 89 nearby farmers have also adopted it.

This is integrated farming

When various enterprises of agriculture such as crop production, cattle rearing, fruit, vegetable production, fish farming, forestry etc. are combined together in such a way that they complement each other, thereby protecting the environment in terms of efficiency, productivity and profitability of resources. If it can be increased by keeping it, then it is called integrated farming system.
