During the current Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2020-21, the government continued to purchase Kharif 2020-21 crops on MSP from farmers as per their existing Minimum Support Price (MSP) schemes. is. Paddy procurement for Kharif 2020-21 continues smoothly in states / union territories like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. More than 284.18 LMT paddy has been procured this year (as on 16 November 2020) as compared to 239.69 LMT of the previous year, thus registering an increase of 18.56 per cent in Paddy procurement over the previous year. Out of the total procurement of 284.18 LMT, Punjab alone contributed 198.38 LMT, constituting 69.81% of the total procurement.

Currently, under the KMS Procurement Implementation, paddy worth Rs 53653.81 crore has been purchased and about 24.39 lakh farmers have been benefited. The government through its nodal agencies has procured 58867.79 MT of moong, urad, groundnut pods and soybeans till November 16, 2020, which has an MSP value of Rs 317.54 crore and has helped 34,361 farmers from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan Has benefited. Last year, 33976.48 MT was purchased for pulses and oilseeds, which means an increase of 73.26% this year. The procurement of seed cotton (cotton) under MSP is going on smoothly in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. As of 16 November 2020, 1498183 cotton bales worth Rs 4285.84 crore have been procured, benefiting 2,93,900 farmers.
