Vet Varsity and Green Pockets signs MoU for Promotion and Improvement of Beetal Goats

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) Ludhiana and Green Pockets Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding for promoting income through adoption of livestock especially goat farming. The goat farmers of the state are facing many challenges in adopting goat farming on a commercial scale. So both the establishments have joined hands to tackle the present bottlenecks in goatery and to make it sustainable. They were inspired by the idea of conservation, improvement and promotion of Beetal breed development in the state of Punjab. The agreed mutual cooperation will help in achieving the common objective of promotion of goat farming on scientific basis in the state.
The MoU was signed by Dr. JPS Gill, Director of Research, GADVASU and Mr. B S Brar, Director of Green Pockets in the presence of officials of GADVASU. Dr. Gill informed that Goat Farmers under Green Pockets can utilize various input services of GADVASU on nominal charges. Since the firm will maintain the network of goat farmers, it will be easy for GADVASU to conduct various adaptive field trials on the goats. The university will exchange technical knowledge inputs through training and services related to nutrition, reproduction, vaccination, disease prevention, development in milk processing and milk products etc.
Mr. B S Brar updated that this mutual agreement will be helpful in generating employment and start up entrepreneurships amongst youth of the state, which will further add to the sustainability of this sector.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor congratulated the teams and hoped that this association would be fruitful for this enterprise. The stake of the university would be to find the solutions of the problems of a well-established goat farms. It will be a learning experience for both parties. GADVASU would help Green Pockets to manufacture different value added products from the goat milk and subsequently its brand establishment.
