International Professors from Malaysia trains Vet Varsity students

Dr. Jalila Abu, Professor and Deputy Dean University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Dr. Hazilawati Hamzah, Associate Professor and Deputy Dean from University Putra Malaysia were invited as International visiting professors under World Bank funded Institutional Development Plan (IDP), under National Agricultural Higher Education Project. Training was imparted to undergraduate students of College of Veterinary Science . Major objectives of this project is to enable productive academic international cooperation through Visiting Professorship by supporting the visits of international faculty in GADVASU to pursue undergraduate (UG) teaching and faculty training.
Dr. Jalila Abu, has vast experience of more than 20 years in the field of avian medicine and surgery. She interacted with UG students on various aspect of avian restraining, handling, medicine, anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery in the form of theory lectures and hands-on practice in the department of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology.
The second eminent scientist Dr. Hazilawati Hamzah has expertise in the field of clinical pathology and imparted training to UG students on the various aspects of clinical pathology viz. hematology, Interpretation of blood results, Diagnostic cytopathology, urine analysis, organ function tests in the form of theory lectures and hands on training in diagnostic laboratories of Animal Disease Research Centre. Students appreciated the effort of both the professors for providing hands-on training in their respective field.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor and Dr. S.P.S Ghuman, Dean College of Veterinary Science and PI of the IDP project welcomed the international experts and discussed the scope of student and faculty exchange programmes between the two universities. Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Professor, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology and Dr. Vishal Mahajan, Principal Scientist ADRC coordinated their visits. Dr. Navdeep Singh, Head Veterinary Surgery and Radiology and Dr. M. S. Bal, In-Charge, ADRC briefed the experts about the current teaching, research activities and salient achievements of the department.
Besides, UG students/Interns, PG students and faculty interacted with the international experts and discussed future teaching and research collaborative activities.
