Vet Varsity organizes “Short Course on Bioinformatics” for Faculty and Students

The College of Animal Biotechnology, has organized a “Short Course on Bioinformatics” in hybrid mode. Participants from five states of India registered for the course. The participants represented students and in-service faculty or Government employees. Upon successful completion of the course, certificates were awarded to the successful candidates. Dr. Manish Chatli, Chief Guest, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, distributed the certificates. He also released the training course manual.
The participants were delighted with the skills and knowledge they have gained in this short course and suggested organizing a one-year diploma course in bioinformatics including whole genome data analysis that is becoming a necessity to apprehend the evolving pathogens across the globe. The Dean and Course Director Dr. Yashpal Singh Malik, during his remarks highlighted that the course has been very meticulously designed to make it useful to the participants. Apart from basic bioinformatics tools, programming languages like R–environment, and SAS have also been covered in this course. Dr. Malik praised the whole team for their diligence in organizing the short course which will contribute to the skill development of the budding researchers. Dr Chatli appreciated the endeavour undertaken by the College of Animal Biotechnology and emphasized disseminating knowledge among interested students and faculty through such short courses and diplomas. The College is planning to offer internship programs for undergradua
te students of biotechnology from different areas of state for a period of one month to four months. The details of such programs will duly be shared on the University website. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University congratulated the College of Animal Biotechnology staff and also the entire team of the course for this commendable achievement.
