Vet Varsity adopts another Village under Farmer FIRST Project

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana under ICAR sponsored Farmer FIRST Project adopted one more village Hamidi of Block Mehal Kalan. Project is working under the leadership and supervision of Dr. P.S. Brar, Director of Extension Education and Nodal officer of Farmer FIRST Project.
A meeting was held by the project team members Dr. Y.S. Jadoun (Principal Investigator), Amandeep Singh (Co-PI) and Dr. S K Kansal at Hamidi village in the presence of S. Jaswinder Singh, Sarpanch, panchayat members and other prominent persons of the village. Team members welcomed and interacted with the gathering and gave the brief view about the various activities and interventions to be conducted in future. Dr. Jadoun informed that the team will first conduct the bench mark survey of the whole village and then various activities will be started on the basis of need, interest and problems identified.
A training camp on value addition of milk products was also organized at adopted village Dhaner by project team members. Dr. Gopika Talwar briefed about various adulterants in the milk and harmful effects they cause in humans after milk consumption. Dr. Rekha Chawla interacted with the women farmers and said that women can make various value added products from milk and milk by-products and can enhance their income many folds by value addition. Milk adulterants testing kits were also provided to beneficiary women farmers so that they can check milk adulterants at their own at household level.
Dr. P.S. Brar, appreciated the work done by project team members for the betterment of farming community in the adopted villages.
