Research.com ranks GADVASU as number one university of country amongst the Animal Sc. and Vet. Universities

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, placed number one university amongst Best Animal Science and Veterinary Universities in India and number 213 globally in the 1st edition of Research.com ranking  based on data collected from Microsoft Academic Graph. Microsoft Academic Graph is the most prominent and well-established bibliometric database of this type available to the scientific community. Position in the ranking is based on scientists D-index (Discipline H-index), which only includes papers and citation values for an examined discipline for the faculty of a given university.
The ranking process involved a detailed examination of 166,880 researchers’ profiles from Microsoft Academic Graph. For the discipline of Animal Science and Veterinary, over 3,419 profiles were examined. Scientists from more than 525 institutions and affiliations were analysed.
It s pertinent to mention here that Dr YPS Malik, Dean, College of Animal Biotechnology, GADVASU was also adjudged top rated scientist at national level and secured 423rd place globally with his research publications contribution, attracting 4878 citations. Interestingly, the second best scientist from an ICAR institute had 3108 citations.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice- Chancellor ,GADVASU congratulated and dedicated this achievement and feat to all the faculty, staff and students of the university for their devotion in serving the institution as well as the farming community. He said that, in a short span since 2006, when GADVASU came into existence, the Vet varsity had taken great strides at a swift pace to match the demand of the livestock sector. GADVASU with a faculty of around 250 teachers is running more than 100 research projects efficiently under national and international collaborations and also reaching to the farmers through a strong extension network and five outreach centres. He congratulated all the stakeholders and hoped that the university would continue to achieve greater heights in future too.
