Registration of dog(s) above the age of 4 months, kept within the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh is compulsory under 'Chandigarh Registration of Pet Dogs Bye Laws, 2010." The owner shall apply for the registration to the registration authority in the prescribed form accompanied by a fee of Rs. 200a-per dog, two recent photographs of the dog and a copy of vaccination certificate from a Government Veterinary Practitioner or Veterinary Practitioner duly registered with Indian Veterinary Council (NC) or State Veterinary Counci (SVC), within a period of thirty days fmm the data the dog completes the age of (raw months. Any owner of a dog who violates these Bye-Laws shall be liable to be punished. with a fine which may extend to Rs. 500/.. and if the violation is of a continuing nature, then with an additional fine which may extend to Rs. 20 per day, for maximum of Seven days for which the breath continues. Also, if the dog Is seized/detained under these by-laws, the owner shall have to pay maintenance charges @Rs.100 per day to claim the dog. However, if the breach continues beyond 7 days or the dog is not claimed within 7 days, the registration shall be liable to be cancelled by the Registration Authority and the seized dog shall he disposed off thmtigh open sale.
