Farmers will not be forced to sell their land, land bank policy notified

August 13 2021

The government on Wednesday notified its land bank policy. Under this, now farmers and other people in Haryana will not be forced to sell their land to anyone. If the government also wants to take the land, then the farmer will get full opportunity for bargaining. Only after the farmer expresses his willingness, talks will be held with him regarding the sale of land.

Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sanjeev Kaushal said that an online portal would be made for this. All the land pending with various departments will now be in the name of the government and they will be deposited in the land bank. The land bank will prove to be a win-win deal for the departments, land owners, farmers and the government.

Kaushal said that the land owners or farmers will offer their land for sale on the online portal of Director, Land Records. It will have to give full details of the land including the negotiable value. The title of the property along with the ownership, Khasra number will be verified online from the web-Haleris portal.

He said that a committee headed by the Administrative Secretary, Urban Local Bodies would examine the report prepared by the Director, Land Records Office. The committee will also ensure that there is no court case pending on the land being sold. The committee, headed by the Finance Commissioner, Revenue, will give an in-principle finalization to the land proposals of farmers for setting up a land bank and make recommendations to the High Powered Land Bank Committee headed by the Chief Minister.
