European varieties:
Purple Top White Globe: Long and round roots, upper part is purple and lower part is white in color. It is suitable for high and intermediate mountainous areas. The variety gets ready in 55-60 days and it gives an average yield of 125-156qtl/acre.
Snowball: Short and round roots, light yellow in color, gets ready in 60 days, suitable for sowing in intermediate and high hilly areas. It gives an average yield of 83-105qtl/acre.
Pusa Chandrima: Big size roots, round or flat, white in color, medium peak, but less deep. Early sowing crop, which is suitable for sowing in October month. It gives an average yield of 130-156qtl/acre.
Asiatic varieties:
Pusa Sweti: Roots are white. It gives an average yield of 130-156qtl/acre.
Pusa Swarnima: Early variety, medium peak and deep. Flat roots, outer skin is light yellow, in hilly areas it is suitable for growing in June-October month and in ground areas, it is suitable for growing in October-December month.
Other state varieties:
L 1: Ready to harvest in 45 to 60days after sowing. Its roots are round and pure white, smooth and crisp with mild flavour. It gives average yield of 105qtl of roots per acre.
Punjab Safed 4: Recommended for cultivation in Punjab and Haryana. Its roots are pure white, round and medium sized with mild taste.
