WEATHER CROP OUTLOOK:
FIELD CROPS: Farmers are advised to do crop operations in view of weather forecast.
RICE and BASMATI: Give timely and not excessive irrigation for higher yield and stop irrigation two weeks before harvesting.
- Rogue out the weeds and off type plants from the paddy.
- To save the rice crop from sheath blight, keep the bunds of the field clean by removing grasses. If the symptoms of disease of observed in the field than spray the crop with Amistar Top or Tilt/Bumper or Folicur Orius @ 200ml or Nativo @ 80g or Moncern @ 200 ml in 200 litres of water per acre. Direct the spray towards the base of the plants.
- Survey the rice and basmati field for leaf folder infestation. If the damage by leaf folder exceeds the economic threshold level (10% damaged leaves, spray the crop with Fame 480 SC @ 20ml /acre or Mortar 75 SG @170 g/acre or Dursban /Durmet /Coroban 20 EC @1 liter/acre.
- Regularly monitor the rice fields for plant hopper infestation. If 5 or more plant hoppers per hill are observed, spray the crop with Chess 50 WG @ 170 g/acre or Confidor 200 SL @ 40 ml/acre.
- To protect basmati crop from neck blast, give first spray of Amistar Top @200 ml or Indofil-Z-78 @500 gram/acre in 200 ml of water per acre at boot stage and give 2nd spray after 10-12 days.
MAIZE: Maintain adequate water supply particularly at tasseling and silking stages. Stress at these stages causes considerable losses in yield.
VEGETABLES: It is the optimum time for transplanting of mid-season cauliflower. This is best time for sowing of root and leafy vegetables.
FRUIT PLANTS: Complete the plantation of evergreen fruit plants like citrus, mango, guava, litchi, loquat, sapota etc.
- Apply the second dose of urea 500g and SSP 1250 g fertilizers per plant in guava orchard.
- Prune the malformed shoots of mango tree and destroy them.
- Fix PAU fruit fly traps @ 16 traps/acre, if needed in citrus orchards.
