Suggestions for farmers growing Vegetables and Horticulture

VEGETABLES- Transplant the nurseries of chilli and capsicum raised under protection on the ridges at the recommended spacings.

• Transplant nursery of brinjal varieties hybrid BH-2, PBH-3 and PBH-4, PBH-5, PBH41, PBH-42 and Punjab Raunak during the period.
• During the period sowing of Punjab Suhawani variety of okra and Cowpea 263 can be done.
• Sowing of cucurbits like muskmelon, cucumber, bottle gourd, pumpkin, sponge gourd, squashes etc. can be done in field.

FRUITS- It’s appropriate time for planning and planting of evergreen fruit plants.

• As temperature is rising, monitor the appearance of sucking pest in different fruit crops regularly and manage as per recommendations.
• To manage citrus phylla and aphids in citrus, spray Confidor @ 200 ml or Actara @ 160 g per 500 liters of water per acre.
• Head back the senile guava trees at 1.5 m height from ground level and apply Bordeaux paste on the cut ends.
