Suggestions by PAU regarding sowing of paddy

Paddy: Farmers are advised to complete the sowing of direct seeded rice (DSR) and manage weeds according to PAU package of practices.

• It is optimum time for the sowing of a nursery of basmati varieties CSR 30 and Pusa Basmati 1509.
• Farmers are advised to complete the sowing of a nursery of recommended variety of paddy i.e. PR 126 during the period. Treat the seed with sprint 75 WS by making a slurry of 3g fungicide formulation in 10-12 ml of water for 1kg seed before sowing to prevent primary seed-borne infection.
• Apply need-based irrigation to the paddy nursery.
• Apply second dose of nitrogen @ 26 kg urea/acre to the nursery sown during mid-May.
• For the management of root-knot nematode, apply mustard cake @40 g per square meter 10 days before sowing of nursery with last preparatory tillage operation after irrigation.
