Prevention of Ergot disease in Bajra (fodder purpose)

• Remove diseased kernels by immersing the seed in a 10 percent salt solution. Then, wash the seeds with plain water and dry them.

• If drops like honey are seen on the spikes, then select such spikes and burn them.

• After harvesting and threshing of the crop, if any residue remains in the field, it should also be destroyed especially in a diseased field.

• Do not sow bajra in the same field where attack of ergot has happened.After harvesting, do deep ploughing and bury the remains of crop deeply so that the diseased parts are completely removed.
