Fruits drop due to increase temperature in summer

Fuits: Fruit drop may increase with further rise in temperature. Continuously keep the soil moist in peach, plum and pear orchards. In citrus, litchi and mango apply light irrigations at regular intervals.

  • Thatches or coverings can be erected to save the young fruit plants from intense heat with straw of datepalm leaves. Apply frequent watering to these plants.
  • Zinc sulphate @ 4.7 g and Manganese sulphate @ 3.3 g per litre of water can be sprayed in citrus plantation.
  • For management of fruit drop in mango, spray 2, 4-D sodium salt @ 2.0 g 100 litres ofwater. Dissolve 2,4-D in 10-20 ml of alcohol before adding to water. Avoid its spray if orchard is planted with vegetables or broad leaf crops.
  • In pear orchards, mulching with 10 cm thick layer of paddy straw can be done to supress weeds and conserve moisture during summer season.
