Balanced diet to improve nutrition and strength in milching animals
Animal Husbandry: Balanced ration is very essential in order to give enough energy to the animals for daily needs. For a cow giving seven kilogram milk and a buffalo giving 5 kilogram milk, the daily ration for that animal must include 25-30 kilogram leguminous fodder (Berseem, lucern, etc), 7-8 kilograms dry roughages like wheat straw, 2-3 kilogram concentrate and 30-40 gram mineral mixture.
If leguminous fodder is present in greater amounts, then 50-60 kilogram green fodder with 4-5 kilogram dry roughages and 30-40 gram mineral mixture should be offered to the animal.
There is no need to feed concentrate with such type of ration. However for high-yielding animals after 5-kilogram milk, for every 2.5 kilogram milk in cow and every 2-kilo milk in buffalo, one kilogram compounded feed should be offered.
