Advisory regarding permitting the Running of Harvester combines for Maintenance and Harvesting of Wheat

These guidelines emphasize that the supply chain of essential goods is to be maitained. The supply chain includes their manufacturing, transport and sale. Accordingly worker and vehicles engaged for this purpose have been allowed free movement during lockdown/curfew. Passes issued in one State also have been allowed to be honored in other States.

Combine harvester is an component of foodgrain production mechanism. State of Punjab has about 18000 combine harvesters (about 13000 self propelled and about 6000 tractor driven). These combine harvesters are not only to move from State to State for harvesting of wheat crop but these are to move within the State also for the purpose of repair, maintenance and harvesting operations.

You are requested to immediately take necessary action to grant the relevant permission to the owners and workers of the combine harvesters with a view to ensure their smooth functioning for the harvesting of wheat crop.
