Dr. Harish Kumar Verma joined MILKFED as Veterinary Officer in 1987 after two years he joined PAU Ludhiana as Assistant Professor where he served for two decades and got promoted as Professor and Head at GADVASU, Ludhiana. In 2015, he joined as Director at Extension Education, GADVASU. Dr. Verma got retired in September, 2020 from GADVASU. He served the veterinary department with zeal and hard work. During his tenure, he published various research papers, books manuals, articles etc. in the field of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry. Dr. Verma has taken various Digital Initiatives for the department. He has conducted more than 400 Animal Welfare Camps, established 7 Farmer Field Schools and has created 32 Self Help Groups. He held number of professional leadership designations such as Secretary at ISSAR, Secretary at Alumni Association of COVS, GADVASU, Secretary at Society for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension (SVAHE), Chief Editor of Livestock Extension, biannual Journal, SVAHE and University editor for all major publications of GADVASU. Till time, he has organized more than 1450 trainings in which approximately 34,421 farmers from 13 states of India, 1650 Veterinarians from 12 states and 857 Para-vets from three different states including 821 from Himachal Pradesh who were trained in 36 trainings. Dr. Verma has organized 4 National Conferences, 27 Kisan Melas, 1 Regional Agriculture Fair (North Zone), 3 Alumni Meet and 5 State level workshops. Dr. Verma has contributed immensely in Veterinary sector and has set an example in helping a large number of farmers while doing all the department work.
