Monitoring and control of brown plant hopper pest in paddy fields
Paddy: In present weather conditions, constant monitoring for brown plant hoppers (BPH) in the paddy field is advised. Farmers are advised to enter into the middle of the crop field and see mosquito-like insect at the basal portion of the plant. Install light trap, pheromone trap, yellow card, etc. Strengthen the bunds and maintain proper water conditions in the field. Root nematode is being observed in paddy crops in Udham Singh Nagar district. For this remedy, drench the roots with Velum @ 1 ml/Litre. Use it only once a year. It would be more effective to use this chemical before planting to protect the crop from root nematodes.
