PAU Advisory for Vegetables Crop and Horticulture

Vegetables:

  • It is best time for sowing of late season cauliflower, carrot, broccoli, Chinese cabbage, spinach. The climatic conditions are ideal for sowing early varieties of potato.
  • Complete sowing of “desi” varieties of radish (Punjab Safed Mooli-2), turnip (L-1) and carrot (Punjab Black Beauty and PC 161), using 4-5 kg seed rate of radish and carrot and 2-3 kg seed rate of turnip per acre
  • To control brinjal shoot and fruit borer, spray 3-4 times at 14 days interval using 100 lt of water per acre with 80 ml Coragen 18.5SC or 80g Proclaim 5SG. Do not ratoon the brinjal crop.

Fruits:

  • Weather is suitable for planting of evergreen fruit plants and also ideal time for training and staking of newly planted fruit plants.
  • To manage citrus psylla and leaf miner, spray 200 ml Crocodile/Confidor 17.8 SL or 160 g Actara/ Dotara 25 WG in 500 litres of water per acre if needed.
