CABBAGE- Weather is favorable for nursery preparation for normal sowing. The seeds should be sown on raised beds (15-20 cm) after treating seeds with Trichoderma @ 10 g/kg or with Captan/Thiram @ 2-3 g/kg seeds. After sowing the seeds in the nursery, cover it with mixture of well rotten compost + friable soil + sand (2:1:1), and mulch with paddy straw / dried leaves.
POTATO- Current season and weather is most ideal for land preparation and sowing of potato. Farmers must know that potato can be grown almost on any type of soil except saline and alkaline soils. Soils, which are naturally loose, offer least resistance to the enlargement of the tubers is preferred. Loamy and sandy loam soils, rich in organic matter with good drainage and aeration are most suitable for cultivation of potato crop. The soil with pH range of 5.2-6.4 is considered to be ideal. Do proper soil selection and testing before land preparation.
SPINACH- Sowing of spinach can be started in coming days. Plough the soil to bring fine tilth. Give a light irrigation before sowing. Sow the seed thinly or give spacing of 30 cm between row and sow the seed. Give irrigation in morning and evening time for proper germination.
