Advisory for farmers doing Animal Husbandry

ANIMAL HUSBANDARY- Immediately after birth, nostrils and muzzle of new born calf should be thoroughly cleaned with a clean towel so that it can breathe easily.

  • Calves should be given first milk (colostrum) of mother for 3 days as it builds up calf immunity.
  • It should given @ 1/10 of body weight.
  • During the first month of their birth, calves often suffer from pneumonia and mortality occurs, so their sheds should be kept clean and dry to maintain the body temperature.
  • Deworm the calves regularly.
