Advisory for farmers cultivating Paddy, Ridge Gourd and Maize crops

RICE- At present, depending on the date of transplanting and the variety, it is in the stage of formation or emergence of earheads, which is very sensitive to water shortage. Due to the lack of water at this stage, the size and number of grains and seed weight decrease. Therefore, maintain sufficient moisture in the field at this time and irrigate again after a day or two when water disappears from the field. Irrigation should be done keeping in mind the weather forecast.

RIDGE GOURD- Sowing of Toria crop should be done in the first fortnight of this month. Toria is short duration crop. So, after harvesting of Toria crop, late sowing of the wheat crop can be done. The field should be prepared for short duration crop of toria by 2-3 ploughing in conserved moisture conditions.

MAIZE- In the valleys and low altitude areas, harvest the matured crop keeping in mind the weather forecast.
