Advisory for farmers cultivating Paddy and Pigeon Pea crops
RICE- Do not let the paddy earhead touch the water or soil. Maintain a proper level of water in the field from flowering to grain filling. One week before harvesting, remove the water from the crop field and store the harvested crop in a safe place. To control the yellow stem borer on rice crop, after 50 days of transplanting, chlorantraniliprole 20 SC (Coragen) @ 150 ml/ha or fipronil 5 SC @ 1000ml/ha should be sprayed in clear weather. Farmers should spray chemicals keeping in mind the weather forecast.
PIGEON PEA- It has been observed that blister beetles are feeding on flowers of the Pigeonpea crop. To control this, spray Monocrotophos 36 SL@ 1 Litre/hectare.
