Advisory for crops

RICE- The crop is now generally in maturity stage. Immediately harvest the mature crop during current weather condition. Properly dry the harvested crop in sun and store properly in dry and clean storage.

TOMATO- Crop is in fruiting/maturity stage. Current weather is very much favourable for harvesting of mature crop. Harvest time for tomatoes should ideally occur when the fruit is a mature green and then allowed to ripen off the vine. Keep the stalk while harvesting to increase the self-life of the crop.

MAIZE- Weather is favorable for sowing of maize in well prepared land. Ensure that the seed is free from insect, disease and weed seeds. The seeds must be procured from certified agencies with high germination percentage. Before sowing, seed treatment with the fungicide captan, etridiazole or thiram @ 1.5 gram/kg of seed is advised.
