Tips for maintenance of mango and citrus gardens

Farmers are advised to not irrigate their  mango and lemon plants during flowering state and keep regular inspection on mealybug and hopper attack on the plant. Remove weeds from the field and do pruning for the plant also add fertilisers. If there is attack of bunch disease in the mango orchards, then cut and destroy the diseases flower bunch and monitor the insect pest. There is a possibility of attack of leaf miner and citrus canker disease in lemon species. To prevent the mealybug larve to climb the mango tree from the soil, the farmers a re advised to use alkathin 25 to 30 cm  around the mango tree at a height of 0.5 m from the ground. Dig the soil around the stem, this will destroy their eggs.
