Advisory related to Mustard and Maize for the upcoming days

MUSTARD- Crop is mainly in flowering stage/pod development stage. Current weather is very much favorable for aphid growth, and aphid attack is reported from several locations. So monitor the crop regularly and immediately destroy the infected plants and dispose away from the field. In case of heavy infestation, spray Quinalphos 25 EC or Malathion 50 EC @ 1-2 ml/liter of water.

MAIZE- Present weather and time is very ideal for sowing of maize in well prepared field. Properly select the seeds. Seed should be free from insect, pest and disease free. It should be free from weed seed. It should be purchased from reliable sources. It should be high germination percentage. Also treat the seed with Imidachlorpit @ 4ml/kg of seed against insects/pests. Generally maize should be sown in rows, 60-75 cm apart, whereas the plants in the row are spaced at 20 to 25 cm.
