Be careful, rainy season can lead to deadly diseases in your animals

Young people who are engaged in animal husbandry and dairy business will probably be knowing about a life-threatening disease likely to occur in animals, which is known as Surra. Reason behind spreading of this disease is a fly (also called a big fly) which mainly takes birth in the humid condition which occurs after the rain. From the bite of this fly, bacteria quickly enters the animal’s blood and the animal becomes the prey of this disease, moreover, it spreads rapidly in other animals too.

Symptoms of diseas

In this disease, the animals revolves round-n-round and hit their head repeatedly on the walls or trees. Animals frequently urinate. The animal remains restless and it happens in three ways. In most of the cases animal immediately caught high fever, in some cases caught high fever suddenly and in some cases, animal becomes blind and falls down. Blood deficiency in observed in animals. Whenever the animal falls down due to shivering, immediately doctor should be called as soon as possible and treatment should be started. Because if the treatment is not started immediately then animal can die within 24 hours.

Prevention

There is no cure for this disease, but until the medical treatment is available try to protect the animal from heat wave and sun, and keep pouring cold water on animal’s head after every 3 hours. Keep the animal’s shed as clean as possible. Also give them water to drink as much as possible. Along with this, also feed animal whole onion and jaggery as much as possible.
