In this way, prevent diseases affecting cotton and sugarcane crop
COTTON- Do not allow the rain water to stand in the cotton crop as this crop is highly sensitive to standing water and promotes parawilt. The affected plants can be saved by spraying cobalt chloride @ 10 mg per litre of water (10 ppm) immediately after the appearance of symptoms.
Apply remaining half dose of nitrogen at flowering stage.
Eradicate the weeds like kanghi buti, peeli buti, puth kanda etc growing on cotton field bunds, waste lands, road side and irrigation channels/canals to avoid further spread of whitefly to cotton field.Regular surveillance of whitefly on cotton should also be done.
Uproot and destroy leaf curl virus infected plant from time to time.After rain, fungal foliar leaf spots appears in field, protect the crop by spraying 200 mlAmistar Top using 200 litres of water per acre after weather clears up.
SUGARCANE- Check black bug especially on ratoon crop by spraying 350 ml Dursban/Lethal/Massban Goldban 20EC (chlorpyriphos) in 400 litres of water per acre. Direct the spray into the leaf whorl.
