Farmers doing Paddy and Maize farming should look into this

Maize- Farmers are advised for sowing of maize as earliest.

• Recommended Hybrid: AH-421, AH-58 Composites: Pusa composite-3 Pusa composite-4. Seed rate 20 kg/ha.
• It is also advised to maintain row to row spacing of 60-75 cm. and plant to plant 18-25 cm. Spray of Atrazine 1-5 kg a.i/ha. in 800 litre of water is recommended just after sowing for effective weed control in maize, sorghum and bajra when sky is clear.

Pearl Millet- Farmers are advised for sowing of bajra as earliest (Hybrid Bajra Pusa-605, Hybrid Bajra Pusa-415, Composite Bajra Pusa-383, HSV-67).

• Seed treatment is required for protection against Ergot.
• Seeds should be put in 10 % salt solution, light and damaged seed should be removed and remaining seed should be dried and treated with Thiram or Bavistin @ 2.0 gm/ kg seed to protect from seed borne diseases.
