Advisory for the farmers growing Rice

RICE- Start transplanting of rice during this period.

• Apply 30 kg urea per acre to medium texture soils within 7 days of transplanting. Use PAU-Leaf colour chart for need based urea application.
• Use recommended weedicides to control weeds by mixing with 60 kg of sand/acre in standing water within 2-3 days of transplanting.
• It is the optimum time for the sowing of nursery of Basmati-386, Basmati-370, CSR-30 and Pusa Basmati-1509 varieties.
• For the management of root-knot nematode, apply mustard cake @40 g per square metre 10 days before sowing of nursery with last preparatory tillage operation after rauni.
• To check foot rot of Basmati rice, treat the seed and seedlings with Trichoderma harzianum talc based formulation as per recommendation.
