Animal Husbandry: Azolla is a fast growing aquatic plant that floats on the upper surface of water. Green algae is found on its lower surface. Now-a-days, Azolla is being used as animal feed. Azolla contains 20 to 25 % protein as well as other nutrients in appropriate amounts. Milk production capacity is increased by adding Azolla to the diet of milch animals. When Azolla is given to pigs, goats and sheep, then the meat in them grows rapidly. Azolla can be produced easily in shallow water areas. If this facility is not available, then it can be easily produced by laying plastic cover in small pit. Therefore, you should also produce Azolla and feed your animals.
