Advisory for farmers cultivating Wheat and Onion

Onion- Farmers are advised to go for the sowing of rabi season onion nursery in mid hill region @ 8-10 kg/hectare or 800 gm/bigha seed rate.

• In lower hill region if farmers are done with sowing of onion nursery, can transplant them in prepared fields at the spacing of 15X10 cm.

Wheat- First irrigation should be done at 21-25 days after sowing at the time of Crown Root Initiation (CRI) stage.

• After irrigation, apply second doze of urea when optimum moisture is available in the soil (Weather should be clear).
• Regular monitoring of wheat crop for pink stem borer.
• Pink stem borer generally attacks the wheat crop at seedling stage.
